Consumer Protection BC has suspended and added conditions to the licences of CARE Funeral Services (Vancouver Island) Ltd. (DBA CARE Funeral Services), a BC funeral provider, for:
- Failing to meet the requirement of a compliance order, contrary to section 189(5)(c)(ii) of Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act
During the period of the licence suspension, CARE must not provide funeral services. CARE may deliver funeral services on preneed contracts entered into before November 18, 2020, if CARE gets prior permission from Consumer Protection BC. The business may remain open but must not arrange or provide any new funeral services.
