How we collect and use personal information
Privacy breach notification
If a privacy breach occurs that could reasonably be expected to result in significant harm, we will:
- notify affected individuals without unreasonable delay, and
- notify the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia in accordance with FOIPPA requirements.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- request access to your personal information
- request correction of your personal information if it is inaccurate or incomplete
Requests can be made under FOIPPA.
Transparency and accountability
We maintain a privacy management program that includes:
- documented policies and procedures
- privacy impact assessments for new or changed programs that involve personal information
- privacy training and awareness
- oversight of contractors and suppliers
- regular monitoring and improvement
We also make information available about how we manage personal information, including access request processes and privacy contacts.
Use of technology and tools
We may use digital tools, including data analytics and, in some cases, artificial intelligence, to support service delivery.
These tools are used in a privacy-protective manner and in compliance with FOIPPA. Personal information is not entered into public or unapproved systems.
