Summary:
Amex Bank of Canada is a credit card issuer in BC and other jurisdictions.
Consumer Protection BC has reached an agreement with Amex after receiving a complaint from a consumer. The agreement, more formally known as an undertaking, alleges Amex failed to cancel or reverse a credit card charge within the required time, a contravention of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.
Through the undertaking, Amex has agreed to:
- Process complaint requests for chargebacks and interest charges from consumers within the statutory timelines
- Enhance internal written procedures and communicate them to staff
- Provide confirmation of updates to Consumer Protection BC
Under the agreement Amex will also reimburse $722.82 to Consumer Protection BC to cover inspection costs.
