Summary:

StubHub is a secondary ticketing platform operator that facilitates the sale of tickets between a seller and a buyer.

Consumer Protection BC entered an agreement, more formally known as an undertaking, with StubHub after doing an inspection into its business practices. Consumer Protection BC alleges StubHub contravened the Ticket Sales Act by not clearly disclosing information on an event ticket and not issuing a refund to consumer whose ticket description didn’t match the reality of the seat.

As part of the agreement, StubHub must change the way it discloses information to anyone buying a ticket to an event in BC. This includes displaying the face value, service fees and taxes, and terms and conditions of a ticket more prominently and clearly. They must also offer cash refunds to consumers instead of just offering credit.

StubHub must pay $6091.37 in inspection fees to Consumer Protection BC and pay $2500 into the Consumer Advancement Fund.
