Know your obligations

You will need to complete the notice of change form within 30 days if you are selling your business or if one or more of the following has changed:

• business name
• licensed location
• partner or corporate officer
• business model

If you are changing your corporate name based on new ownership, you are required to submit a new application as licences are non-transferable.

If your business has more than one location, each location will require its own licence.

You must publicly display your licence in your place of business.

As a distributor, you are responsible for submitting your motion pictures (including trailers) to be classified (rated) before distributing them to theatres for exhibition.

As a theatre, you are responsible for ensuring that you only exhibit classified motion pictures (including trailers) on your screens.

As an adult film distributor, you are responsible for submitting Restricted or Adult DVDs for review and for purchasing a decal for each copy that you intend to distribute to adult film retailers in BC or Saskatchewan.

As an adult film retailer, you are responsible for ensuring that only decaled copies of Restricted or Adult DVDs are sold or rented at each of your licensed locations.

Adult film distributors are required to submit an accountant’s report by March 31 of each year, detailing the adult film distributor’s books, records and accounts with respect to the purchase, transfer, sale, distribution and inventory of adult decals for the previous calendar year.
