Consumer Protection BC has issued a compliance order against Wiebe & Jeske Burial & Cremation Care Providers Ltd., a licensed funeral provider based in Abbotsford BC, for:
- Deducting more than 20% for selling expenses from money received in payment of preneed funeral services contracts, contrary to section 40 (5) of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act

The business has been ordered to complete a reconciliation of their trust account, to be performed by a Certified Professional Accountant or other person deemed acceptable by Consumer Protection BC, as prescribed in the compliance order. The findings of the reconciliation must be presented to Consumer Protection BC with 90 days. The business is also required to reimburse Consumer Protection BC costs for the inspection in the amount of $8,000 within 30 days.
By law, the business has 30 days to request a reconsideration of the decision.
