STATUS UPDATE: Upon reconsideration, the decision to suspend the licence was confirmed and the $4,000 administrative penalty was cancelled. A compliance order was issued requiring the business to pay inspection costs. Read the decision.
On October 23, 2018, Consumer Protection BC issued a licence suspension and an administrative penalty against Platinum Travel Ltd., a travel agency based in Delta BC, for:
- Failing to provide payment to the Travel Assurance Fund, contrary to section 17 (3) of the Travel Industry Regulation(TIR)
- Failing to provide the required financial report within 90 days of the fiscal year, ending August 31, 2018, contrary to section 12 (1) of the TIR, an administrative penalty of $4,000
The licence suspension was in effect from October 23, 2018, until November 6th, 2018.
The business has been ordered to reimburse Consumer Protection BC partial costs for the inspection in the amount of $500 within 30 days.
All money received from administrative penalties is deposited into the Consumer Advancement Fund (as required by section 169 of the BPCPA).
