Consumer Protection BC has issued a compliance order and administrative penalties against Let’s Canada Tours Ltd., a licensed travel agency based in Burnaby BC, for:
- Using a personal credit card to pay for travel services on behalf of customers, contrary to section 9(2) of Travel Industry Regulation (TIR), an administrative penalty of $600
- Failing to ensure that the four receipts for travel services contain the conditions for reimbursement of any money received, contrary to section 12.1(f) of the TIR, an administrative penalty of $800
In addition to the administrative monetary penalties, the business has been ordered to reimburse Consumer Protection BC the costs of the inspection in the amount of $400. The compliance order, notice of administrative penalty and the full reasons for the decision are available on our website. By law, the business has 30 days to request a reconsideration of the decision.
All money received from administrative penalties is deposited into the Consumer Advancement Fund (as required by section 169 of the BPCPA).
