Consumer Protection BC has issued a compliance order and an administrative monetary penalty against Bath Time Innovations Inc., a bathroom re-modeler based in Port Coquitlam BC, for:

  • Failing to meet the disclosure requirements for future performance contracts, namely a detailed description of the goods and services to be provided, a detailed statement of the terms of payment, and the start and end dates for the provision of goods and services, contrary to sections 19 (e) and (i) and section 23 (2) of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (BPCPA)
  • Failing to provide a full refund within 15 days after receiving written notice of cancellation, contrary to section 27 of the BPCPA, an administrative penalty of $12,500

The business has been ordered to refund the consumer $9,123.46 within 15 days (and in any case no later than November 4th, 2019), comply with the requirements of the BPCPA, and to reimburse Consumer Protection BC partial costs for the inspection in the amount of $750 within 30 days.

By law, the business has 30 days to request a reconsideration of the decision.

All money received from administrative penalties is deposited into the Consumer Advancement Fund (as required by section 169 of the BPCPA).
