BPCPA Announces Travel Industry Advisory Group Members Print E-mail

{August 1, 2006} VICTORIA – The Board of Directors of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA) is pleased to announce the following appointments to the Travel Industry Advisory Group.  Appointments are effective November 1, 2006 and individual terms range from one to three years.

  • Scott Bonner, Managing Director, Midnight Sun Adventure Travel.  {3 year term}
  • Dennis Cote, VP, Product Development & Support, British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA).  {3 year term}
  • Valerie Fisher, Regional Manager Western Canada, Skylink.  {1 year term}
  • Bruce Fougner, President Lloyds Travel.  {1 year term}
  • Simone Lis, Director Operations, Better Business Bureau, Mainland BC.  {2 year term}
  • David McCaig, Vice President, Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) National.  {3 year term}
  • Gord McMorran, Vice President, Woolridge Mahon Limited.  {2 year term}
  • Andy Shimizu, Manager, Corporate Planning, JTB International (Canada) Ltd. {3 year term}
  • Jan Singh, President TDI Travel Dimensions. {2 year term}
  • Tom R. Aquiline, Deputy Director, Industry Relations, BPCPA.  {3 year term}

The purpose of the Advisory Group is to identify consumer and industry related issues and potential solutions for consideration by the BPCPA. The group will also provide feedback on matters put forward by the Authority for consideration.    “We believe there is a solid cross section of industry and consumer representation amongst the new members,” says Frank Barr, Chair of the Board of the BPCPA.  “Their expertise will contribute to the successful efforts of the Advisory Group in supporting the BPCPA’s vision of a fair marketplace for BC consumers and businesses.”
