BPCPA announces telemarketing industry advisory group appointments Print E-mail

{October 5, 2007} VICTORIA, BC – The Board of Directors of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA) is pleased to announce the following appointments to the Telemarketing Industry Advisory Group.  Appointments are effective November 1, 2007 and individual terms range from one to three years.

  • Bruce Bird,  Chair Fraser Valley / White Rock Chapter CARP – Canada’s Association for the Fifty Plus {3 year term}
  • Wally Hill, VP Public Affairs & Communications Canadian Marketing Association {3 year term}
  • Valerie MacLean, Executive Director BC Crime Prevention Association {1 year term}
  • Jean Mitchell, President BC Contact Centre Association  {3 year term}
  • Edward Soorany, President Telacquire Marketing Group Inc.  {1 year term}
  • Stacey Taylor, Special Projects Manager, Intrawest Resort Corp. {2 year term}
  • Len Wolstenholme, Director Regulatory Affairs, Xentel DM {3 year term}
  • Tom R. Aquiline, Director, Industry Relations, BPCPA {3 year term}

The purpose of the Advisory Group is to identify consumer and industry related issues and potential solutions for consideration by the BPCPA.  The group also provides feedback on matters put forward by the BPCPA for consideration.   “We are confident that the new group possesses a strong contingent of knowledge and experience,” says Frank Barr, Chair of the Board of the BPCPA. “Their contributions will be invaluable in supporting the BPCPA’s vision of a fair marketplace for BC consumers and businesses.” 

The BPCPA promotes a fair marketplace for BC consumers and businesses.  It was established in 2004 as a not-for-profit corporation to strengthen consumer protection in BC.
