Telemarketing Industry Advisory Group Seeks New Members Print E-mail

{June 14, 2007} VICTORIA, BC – The Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority of BC (BPCPA) is seeking qualified industry and consumer representatives to serve on a telemarketing advisory group for a renewable term of up to three years. 

All industry advisory groups are established by the BPCPA Board of Directors. Comprised of industry and consumer representatives, the voluntary advisory groups identify consumer and industry related issues and potential solutions for consideration by the BPCPA, provide feedback on any matters put forward by the BPCPA and consider other related matters.

Presently, the BPCPA regulates the following industries: debt collection, travel services, cemetery, interment and funeral services, and telemarketing.  The BPCPA licenses the regulated industries, inspects licensees and others, investigates alleged violations of legislation, responds to inquiries and complaints, and educates consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities.

Any person who is interested in serving on the Telemarketing Industry Advisory Group should provide written confirmation of their interest, together with their resume and description of qualifications, by July 31, 2007 to:
