{December 22, 2010} VICTORIA BC – Consumer Protection BC is very pleased to announce the launch of www.debtrightsbc.ca, our new debt industry portal. This new portal, which co-exists with our larger Consumer Protection BC website, provides timely and relevant information for both consumers and licensed businesses in BC. You can now find all of our debt collection related information in one location!

Debt collectors, bailiffs and debt poolers will benefit from direct access to industry news, licensing information, debt collection related law, forms, details about their licence, and compliance tools such as violation reporting. All this delivered through a customized and secure space for all our licensed businesses.

This portal will also help consumers understand their rights and obligations when dealing with licensed debt collectors, bailiffs and debt poolers, they can read industry news, connect with us via our new blog, Facebook and Twitter, and get accurate information to make more informed decisions as a BC consumer.

An RSS feed for industry news is also available for those who wish to receive news from Consumer Protection BC around the debt industry as soon as it is posted. Consumers are encouraged to look for our icon on our licensees' websites which identifies the company as being licensed with Consumer Protection BC.
