{June 25, 2012} VICTORIA BC - Consumer Protection BC is looking for two new members for its Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing strategic direction and governance of the organization. Board members are appointed for an initial term of 3 years and may be eligible for re- appointment to serve a maximum of 6 years. The Board currently has vacancies for two independent directors, as follows:

Director Starting November 2012

  • Previous board experience, preferably Chairing Boards and/or Chairing an Audit & Finance Committee;
  • Strong financial literacy – prefer a CA or CGA designation;
  • Experience in a senior executive management role in an operating business; AND,
  • Strong consumer focus in past business experiences.

This candidate will most likely be a CEO, President, CEO, CFO or VP Finance in a multi-unit retail, hospitality or service oriented/relationship driven company.

Director Starting April 2013

  • Previous board experience;
  • Experience in public policy, legislation and regulatory environments;
  • Strong background in public relations, communications, advertising, marketing, branding, social media;
  • Experience in a senior executive management role in a service oriented company developing partnerships and alliances; AND,
  • Strategic planning and business risk.

This candidate will most likely be a Vice President of: Operations, Corporate Relations, Marketing, Communications or Branding with a retail, hospitality, or relationship driven company.
