Consumer Protection BC orders Cowichan Valley Crematorium to cease operations

STATUS UPDATE:  On April 11, 2014 the operator of Cowichan Valley Crematorium Ltd. made application to the BC Supreme Court to stay Consumer Protection BC’s April 15, 2014 licence suspension until their appeal in a separate action involving the Cowichan Valley Crematorium and the Regional District was heard and reasons of the Court of Appeal delivered.   The Court has granted a stay of Consumer Protection BC’s licence suspension to April 25, 2014 to allow all parties to make submissions. Consumer Protection BC will provide updates regarding license status as appropriate.

{March 17, 2014} VICTORIA, BC – Consumer Protection BC has upheld a September 2012 decision to suspend the licence of Cowichan Valley Crematorium Ltd., effective April 15, 2014. This means that the business must cease providing services by that date.
