{July 9, 2007} - VICTORIA, BC – The BPCPA is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Steven Pelton as Director of Motion Picture Classification, effective July 1st.  Mr. Pelton will be responsible for all classification and review functions.  He was formerly the Deputy Director of Film Classification and Senior Classifier with the Film Classification Office and his acceptance of this new role with the Authority will provide an invaluable continuity during the transition between government and the BPCPA.

The Province of British Columbia transferred responsibility for film classification, licensing and inspection functions under the Motion Picture Act to the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority, effective July 1, 2007.
