{September 23, 2008} VICTORIA, BC – The National Do Not Call List (DNCL), an initiative of the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) will launch on September 30, 2008. Canadians will be able to register their home phone, cellular or residential fax numbers on the National DNCL for free. The CRTC states that the National DNCL will reduce the number of unwanted telemarketing calls that Canadians receive. Canadians can register their phone and fax numbers on or after September 30th:
When registering by phone or fax, calls must be made from the phone number to be registered. Please note that it will take approximately 30 days for your registration to take effect. Please note that while the National DNCL rules do not apply to certain exempt organizations, they are required to establish and honour their own do-not-call lists. Although the BPCPA licenses certain segments of the telemarketing industry in BC, it is not responsible for managing the National DNCL. Complaints about the National DNCL Rules or Telemarketing Rules may be submitted online or by phone at 1-866-580-DNCL (3625) on or after September 30th. BPCPA Inquiry Centre:
