| Changes to Application Procedures for New Licensing Applicants |
|

|
{December 8, 2009} VICTORIA, BC - Due to changes from our service provider, effective immediately Consumer Protection BC will no longer be able to perform criminal record checks internally for new licensing applicants. Instead, applicants (except for telephone collectors and general release film and video providers) will be required to obtain and submit a criminal record check performed by their local police agency (RCMP, regional or municipal departments). As well, new applicants who have had a previous criminal conviction will be required to submit a Statutory Declaration of a Criminal Record to determine their licensing eligibility. Consumer Protection BC understands the inconvenience of this new procedure but remains committed to the scrutiny of new applicants and seeks the cooperation of applicants during the licensing process to obtain these checks. |
