President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The President and CEO is responsible for the overall management of the Authority services and programs, and is accountable to the Board of Directors.

One of the CEO's major responsibilities is implementing BC's new consumer protection statutes and creating a seamless transition from government to the new operating structure. Ultimately, the CEO is accountable for ensuring that consumer protection and industry regulation are managed to reflect today's approaches and operating environment.

The CEO holds appointed officers accountable for the day-to-day operations of Consumer Protection BC.

Mr. Terry Barnett is the President and CEO

Mr. Barnett has served with the provincial government and crown corporations for over twenty-five years in a variety of capacities. He has been a member of the Liquor Licensing Committee, a member of the B.C. Racing Commission and Chair of both the Motor Dealer Customer Compensation Fund Board and the Travel Assurance Board. Mr. Barnett holds a Master of Arts and Master of Public Administration degrees from the University of Victoria . He has been employed in the areas of policy and research, management information systems, facilities management, consumer protection and trade practices.
