BPCPA Announces Debt Collection Advisory Group Members Print E-mail
{August 1, 2006} VICTORIA – The Board of Directors of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA) is pleased to announce the following appointments to the Debt Collection Industry Advisory Group. Appointments are effective November 1, 2006 and individual terms range from one to three years.

  • Laurier E. Bourassa, Proprietor, At Home Debt Assistance.  {2 year term}
  • Scott Hannah, President & CEO, Credit Counselling Society of BC.  { 3 year term}
  • John Kim, Executive VP & Equity partner; Credit Bureau of Canada.  {1 year term}
  • Freya Kodar, Assistant Professor Faculty of Law University of Victoria.  {1 year term}
  • William D. Millar, Assistant Superintendent, Western Region Office of Superintendent of Bankruptcy.  {2 year term}
  • Les Mitchell, Vice President, Wolfco.Bailiffs.  {2 year term}
  • Allan A. Parker, Barrister & Solicitor, Legal Services Society, Program Manager LawLINE. {3 year term}
  • R.W.(Bob) Richards, Senior Vice President & COO of CBV Collection Services Ltd. {3 year term}
  • R.D. (Bob) Webber, President, Havers Dillon & Associates Ltd. / VP, BC Bailiffs Association. {3 year term}
  • Tom R. Aquiline, Deputy Director, Industry Relations, BPCPA. {3 year term}
The purpose of the Advisory Group is to identify consumer and industry related issues and potential solutions for consideration by the BPCPA.  The group will also provide feedback on matters put forward by the BPCPA for consideration.  “We are confident that the new group possesses a strong contingent of knowledge and experience,” says Frank Barr, Chair of the Board of the BPCPA. “Their feedback will be invaluable in supporting the BPCPA’s vision of a fair marketplace for BC consumers and businesses.”
