{December 7, 2010} VICTORIA BC – Consumer Protection BC is advising consumers that the Direct Prohibition Order against Lloyd Schell Jr. and David Schell will be expiring on Friday December 9, 2010.
In 2005, Consumer Protection BC issued a Direct Sales Prohibition Order against Lloyd Clement Schell Jr. and David Schell to prevent them from engaging in direct sales in the province of BC for a period of five years. (Please click here for a copy of that Order.) They were found to be engaging in deceptive acts towards elderly consumers, using high-pressure sales tactics and violating BC’s consumer contract laws.
We want to take this opportunity to remind consumers to be cautious of sellers who call to offer gifts in order to obtain access to your home. If you do enter into a contract in your home, you have the right to cancel the contract within 10 days for any reason and the right to a refund from the supplier within 15 days if the contract is cancelled.
If you are a consumer and you have questions about this issue, please contact us toll free at 1-888-564-9963. For more consumer tips, information about direct sales contracts or the details of our enforcement tools, please visit our website at www.consumerprotectionbc.ca.
