While many people who come to your door offering to sell you a service or product are legitimate, you should always be diligent before making a purchase.

Here are a few things to remember before entering into a contract at your door:

• Always know who you are doing business with.
• Read the contract carefully.
  
• You have 10 days to cancel the contract should you change your mind.
• Deposits should not exceed the greater of $100 or 10% of the cost.
• Get a copy of your contract.
  
• Be wary of high pressure sales tactics.
