Industry Representatives Wanted for Advisory Groups Print E-mail

{April 18, 2006} VICTORIA – The Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority of BC (BPCPA) is seeking qualified industry representatives to serve on industry advisory groups for a renewable term of up to three years. 

Industry advisory groups are established by the BPCPA Board of Directors. Comprised of industry and consumer representatives, the voluntary advisory groups identify consumer and industry related issues and potential solutions for consideration by the BPCPA, provide feedback on any matters put forward by the BPCPA and consider other related matters.

Presently, the BPCPA regulates the following industries: debt collection, travel services, cemetery, interment and funeral services, and telemarketing. The BPCPA licenses the regulated industries, inspects licensees and others, investigates alleged violations of legislation, responds to inquiries and complaints, and educates consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities.

If you are interested in serving on a BPCPA Advisory Group, please provide written confirmation of their interest, together with their resume and description of qualifications, to the BPCPA.
