THE BPCPA ANNOUNCES INDUSTRY ADVISORY GROUP APPOINTMENTS {October 5, 2007} VICTORIA, BC – The Board of Directors of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA) is pleased to announce the following appointments to three of the four Industry Advisory Groups. These individuals are currently serving on an advisory group for a one year term, to expire on October 31, 2007. The Board is pleased to appoint them, effective November 1, 2007, for a second term of 3 years, expiring October 31, 2010. The Cremation, Interment & Funeral Services Advisory Group: Chris Dorrington, Funeral Director, Sutton’s Campbell River Funeral Home Blair Wallin, Government Relations Chair, Cemetery & Crematorium Association of BC (CCABC)
The Debt Collection Industry Advisory Group: John Kim, Executive VP & Equity partner; Credit Bureau of Canada Freya Kodar, Assistant Professor Faculty of Law University of Victoria
The Travel Industry Advisory Group: Valerie Fisher, Regional Manager Western Canada, Skylink Bruce Fougner, President, Lloyd’s Travel Group
The purpose of the Advisory Groups is to identify consumer and industry related issues and potential solutions for consideration by the BPCPA. The groups also provide feedback on matters put forward by the BPCPA for consideration. “We are confident these appointees will once again make a strong contribution to the successful efforts of the advisory groups and together, we will continue to take strides towards our vision of a fair marketplace for BC consumers and businesses,” says Frank Barr, Chair of the Board of the BPCPA.
