{July 16, 2012) VICTORIA, BC – Do you have a vested interest in consumer-related issues within your industry? Consumer Protection BC is seeking both industry members and consumer representatives to join one of four advisory groups.
Established by Consumer Protection BC’s Board of Directors, the four advisory groups cover the industries of debt collection, funeral services, telemarketing and travel and are designed to identify consumer and industry related issues, provide feedback and information and bring forward potential solutions to policy and regulatory issues.
“This is a great opportunity for industry members and consumer representatives alike to make a difference,” says Chris Smithers, Director of Industry Relations at Consumer Protection BC. “The direct and knowledgeable input from these advisory groups is a key to fulfilling our vision of achieving confident consumers and trusted businesses in a thriving marketplace.”
Applicants have until Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 to submit a written confirmation of interest, a résumé and a description of qualifications. For more information about membership and the application process, please visit the Advisory Groups section on the Consumer Protection BC website, or:

Membership is on a voluntary basis (although appropriate travel expenses will be reimbursed) and successful applicants will be appointed for a renewable term of up to three years.
