Telemarketing in Canada

Canadian Marketing Association provides information to help you better understand your rights as a consumer such as information on protecting your personal information, making the shopping experience more enjoyable, and links to groups and agencies that help consumers.

The National Do Not Call List gives consumers a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls. The National DNCL Rules introduce new responsibilities for Canada’s telemarketers.

The Charities Directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) registers qualifying organizations as charities, gives technical advice on operating a charity, handles audit and compliance activities, and provides donors with relevant information about donating to charities.

Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre is the central agency in Canada that collects information and criminal intelligence on mass marketing fraud (telemarketing), advance fee fraud letters (e.g. West African), internet fraud and identity theft complaints, that have Canadian content, from North American consumers and/or victims. The CAFC does not conduct investigations, but provides valuable assistance to law enforcement agencies all over the world.
