As of November 1, 2009, payday lenders require licences to conduct business in British Columbia.  Consumer Protection BC is responsible for licensing and administering the regulations.  If you are a consumer and have a complaint about the rates being charged, disclosure, cancellation rights or loan repayment you may submit a written complaint to us or call us at 1 888 564 9963 for more information.

For more information on how Consumer Protection BC initiates investigations please visit our enforcement page

All businesses in BC that are collecting their own debts must follow the debt collection practices.  Click here to find out more about debt collection practices in British Columbia.
