{July 12, 2010} VICTORIA, BC - Consumer Protection BC is seeking industry members and consumers to serve on our industry advisory groups.

“We receive excellent feedback from our advisory groups, especially with respect to industry issues,” says Tom Aquiline, Director of Industry Relations. “Each advisory group also includes consumers to reflect the consumer point of view and gain a broader perspective of consumer issues”.

Our Board of Directors established several industry advisory groups to identify consumer and industry related issues, provide feedback, bring forward potential solutions, and consider other related issues.  We currently have advisory groups for the travel, telemarketing, debt collection and funeral services industries.

Make a difference; submit your name to become a member of one of our industry advisory groups. Consumer Protection BC is now accepting expressions of interest and will be making appointments in the near future.

Anyone interested in serving on one of the industry advisory groups should provide written confirmation of your interest together with your resume and description of qualifications by August 18, 2010.

Consumer Protection BC is a not-for-profit corporation that was created to strengthen consumer protection in BC and enforce consumer protection laws. We balance the interests of all parties to promote a marketplace that is fair for both BC consumers and businesses. We license and inspect specific industries, respond to inquiries through our inquiry centre, investigate alleged violations of consumer protection laws, and educate consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities under the law.
