Consumer Protection BC issues licences to individuals who perform home inspection services based on the requirements of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act and the Home Inspector Licensing Regulation. DefinitionsA "home inspector" means an individual person who engages in the business or occupation of home inspection. "Home inspection" means an opinion given to a consumer regarding the condition of a residential dwelling or property based on a visual examination of readily accessible features and components of the dwelling or property. Currently, the applicant for a licence has to meet the requirements of one of the designated associations or authorities to operate as a home inspector.
