Ensuring a Fine Dining Experience
Written by Michelle
Welcome to February, the month of love! As we all know, Valentine ’s Day is coming up on February the 14th. I typically like to celebrate by going out with good friends and enjoying a nice meal (especially since food is one of my true loves).
Although restaurants are not part of a currently regulated industry, they must hold municipal licenses and be inspected regularly for safety purposes. Recently I came across a search function on the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) website that allows us to check out the most recent food facility and inspection information on local restaurants on Vancouver Island. The inspections can show you if your favourite restaurant is making an effort to keep their standards high. Here are some links to restaurant inspection information from different authorities throughout BC (click here for a visual representation of our province showing what areas are covered by each authority):

Fraser Health Authority - http://www.healthspace.ca/Clients/FHA/FHA_Website.nsf/Env-Frameset
Northern Health Authority - http://www.healthspace.ca/Clients/NHA/NHA_Website.nsf
I hope you found this information helpful! Happy Valentine’s Day!
