  • What you will be doing:

  • Monitoring and tracking emerging issues on business practices with regulated businesses and, where necessary, escalating matters of non-compliance to the Compliance & Enforcement team.
  • Conducting paper-based reviews of businesses to ensure compliance with legislation, and policies and procedures. Compliance reviews are initiated as the result of license applications and renewals, complaints, and other avenues, and the position is required to apply principles of administrative fairness in the examination and approval of documentation. 
  • Monitoring the day-to-day activities and providing business expertise to Licensing and Information Officers, and acting as a focal point for complex and unusual issues related to licensing of all regulated business sectors.

  • We are looking for people who have:

  • Post-secondary degree with a focus in the humanities, public administration, business, criminology or other related discipline
  • Several years’ experience working in a compliance related environment, with preference given to a regulatory field
  • Experience working with, interpreting, and applying legislation and policy, as well as preparing reports or regulatory documentation
  • Experience dealing with a variety of contacts and individuals (e.g., business representatives, legal counsel, and members of the public) on complex, sensitive or contentious issues

    Director of Business Systems & Solutions

    Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Director of Business Systems & Solutions is a newly-created position, designed to move Consumer Protection BC’s information technology to a more strategic level, transforming service delivery and fulfilling many of the organization’s goals as outlined in its strategic plan. He or she will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing IT initiatives for the organization in a constantly changing and intensely complex field of work. Leading a small team of professionals, the Director will oversee all aspects of major strategic initiatives that involve an IT component. 

    As the ideal candidate, you are known for your ability to blend your systems and infrastructure knowledge with forward-thinking approach, developing solutions that meet the broad needs of an organization. You are innovative, analytical, team oriented, and experienced at leading change – both functionally and conceptually. You have experience implementing systems, enabling the business and ultimately achieving real efficiencies and increased effectiveness. You have led teams in an entrepreneurial environment and have built strong relationships throughout an organization in order to build workable solutions and provide a higher level of customer service. Your experience is ideally augmented by a degree in a related discipline.
