Consumer Protection BC is looking for a Senior Licensing Officer – Compliance to join our team!

What you will be doing:

  • Conducting reviews of businesses to ensure compliance with legislation, policies and procedures, using the principles of administrative fairness in the examination and approval of documentation
  • Monitoring the day-to-day activities and providing business expertise to Licensing Officers and acting as a focal point for complex and unusual issues related to licencing of all regulated business sectors
  • Developing and delivering training to licensing team, and others, and assisting team with financial procedures, and the production and distribution of materials


Are you the next member of our team?


We are looking for people who have:

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g. Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminology) and several years related experience in a complex licensing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience reviewing financial and legal information pertaining to businesses, and working knowledge of the principles of administrative law
  • Team lead or supervisory experience, with knowledge of on-line data systems and computer software

COMPLIANCE INSPECTOR

What you will be doing:

  • Conducting inspections of businesses to determine compliance with statutory requirements and making recommendations on a course of corrective action, if required, while updating database and files with the information gathered during the inspection.
  • Issuing formal written notice to businesses of violations under the legislation that may result in enforcement meetings or hearings as appropriate; collecting evidence. of a business’ unlawful activity; analyzing the evidence and writing detailed reports recommending enforcement action be taken as a result of a contravention.
  • Investigating and responding to complaints about businesses from customers, interest groups, local governments, police agencies and the general public.

  • Post-secondary degree with a focus in the humanities, public administration, business, criminology or other related discipline.
  • Several years’ experience working in a compliance related environment, with preference given to a regulatory field.
