Compliance Inspector

Consumer Protection BC is looking for a Compliance Inspector to join our team!

Who you are:

  • A detailed-oriented employee, with ability to exercise judgement to resolve a variety of problems in a time-sensitive manner

What you will be doing:
  • Conducting inspections of businesses to determine compliance with statutory requirements and making recommendations on a course of corrective action, if required, while updating database and files with the information gathered during the inspection

  • Issuing formal written notice to businesses of violations under the legislation that may result in enforcement meetings or hearings as appropriate; collecting evidence of a business’ unlawful activity; analyzing the evidence and writing detailed reports recommending enforcement action be taken as a result of a contravention

  • Investigating and responding to complaints about businesses from customers, interest groups, local governments, police agencies and the general public

Are you the next member of our team?

We are looking for people who have:
  • Post-secondary degree with a focus in the humanities, public administration, business, criminology or other related discipline

  • Several years’ experience working in a compliance related environment, with preference given to a regulatory field

  • Experience working with, interpreting, and applying legislation and policy, as well as preparing reports or regulatory documentation

  • Experience dealing with a variety of contacts and individuals (e.g., business representatives, legal counsel, and members of the public) on complex, sensitive or contentious issues
